What preparation is needed before a urological examination?
Patients themselves ask this question very often. Here in urology, in most cases no preparation is required — whether to come on an empty stomach or not, and so on. So what is our main requirement?
Since this is urology, when patients come to us they are asked — requested — to come with a full bladder, or at least a partly full one. Why? Very often, when men or women come to us, it is precisely a full bladder that can give us a meaningful result. For example, if there is a growth in the bladder, or a condition called reflux, examining with a full bladder can help us make the diagnosis more accurately.
